The Art of Edward Hicks

Coming in 2020
Will be on view in the Sheila M. Miller Gallery
This exhibition has been generously underwritten by the Steven and Sheila Miller Foundation.

Among the most beloved of 19th-century American folk artists, Edward Hicks is known for his many paintings of the Peaceable Kingdom. Among the objects on view will be four of these iconic images of lions, wolves, cows, lambs and children peacefully coexisting. This exhibition will explore Hicks’ life and art through his objects from the Foundation’s collection, home to the largest body of his works in the world. Along with the Peaceable Kingdoms will be landscapes featuring farms of his native Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as well as depictions of such notable historic events such as Penn’s Treaty with the Indians.
