Surviving childhood was a battle in the 18th century. Bringing little strangers into the world was filled with joy and hardship. A child could bring hope and laughter, or the act of bringing that little one into the world could be filled with sadness and sudden loss. Follow Mrs. Rind as she examines the dangerous journey of childhood from her own life, newspaper articles, personal letters, family stories, and the experiences of friends, neighbors, and their enslaved people. Content warning: This program is designed for those 16 and over as it contains subjects of child and infant death, grief, illness, and loss.
